Exploring the Prospective of Weed Amaranthus retroflexus for Biofuel Production through Pyrolysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Amaranthus retroflexus or redroot pigweed is a second generation lignocellulosic fuel. Each biomass sample (leaves, inflorescences and stems) was pyrolyzed in lab-scale furnace, nitrogen atmosphere under non-isothermal conditions at heating rates of 10 °C/min until the furnace temperature reached 550 °C. The pyrolysis characteristics three major components were also studied through thermogravimetric analysis. thermal decomposition samples similar to process materials proceeds main stages: dehydration, devolatilization, carbonation. highest bio-oil yield obtained for (55%) leaves (45%). Gas chromatography—mass spectrometry analysis carried out oil fractions liquid from retroflexus. composition fraction had an overbearing aliphatic hydrocarbon nature whereas stems composed mainly oxygen-containing components. use biochars can lead slag formation power equipment, so it advisable them produce composite fuel, example, mixed with coal. results would help better understand behavior its utilization fuels chemicals.

Weed control by crops through growth suppressive root exudates is a promising alternative to herbicides. Buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum) is known for its weed suppression and redroot pigweed (Amaranthus retroflexus) control is probably partly due to allelopathic root exudates. This work studies whether other weeds are also suppressed by buckwheat and if the presence of weeds is necessary to in...
متن کاملRole of Ethylene Metabolism in Amaranthus retroflexus.
(14)C-Ethylene was metabolized by etiolated pigweed seedlings (Amaranthus retroflexus L.) in the manner similar to that observed in other plants. The hormone was oxidized to (14)CO(2) and incorporated into (14)C-tissue components. Selected cyclic olefins with differing abilities to block ethylene action were used to determine if ethylene metabolism in pigweed is necessary for ethylene action. 2...
متن کاملAction of Phytochrome During Prechilling of Amaranthus retroflexus L. Seeds.
Dark germination of Amaranthus retroflexus L. seeds at 35 degrees increased after several days of prechilling at 20 degrees or lower. Irradiation with far-red light for short periods during the early hours of a prechilling period at 10 degrees inhibited subsequent dark germination at 35 degrees . The inhibition was completely reversible with red light. Far-red irradiation in the latter part of ...
